I think

Michela Longone

In his famous 1837 diary entry, Charles Darwin, English naturalist, first drew the tree of life and wrote “I think”. The theory of evolution is one of the pillars of modern biology. It removed humanity from being at the centre of nature. Over the centuries, humanity has taken back its central role on the planet by building, exploring, polluting. At first glance, the work of art looks like a blooming meadow. However, upon closer inspections we can spot intruders: a small bud, made with natural pine resin, contains traces of our presence. After all, humanity is the only animal that pollutes and destroys its habitat.

The artwork was realized with the help of Camilla Longone e Mario Mosca.
