sup-PORTARE

Elisabetta Trussoni & Nicoletta Aveni

Fragility is not only a human, intimate and solitary condition. Artists Elisabetta Trussoni and Nicoletta Aveni listen to the other side of the story: the point of view of those who indirectly support the fragility of other people. The “sup-PORTARE” work of art aims to start a conversation based on new information using a familiar context related to their youthful memories of the Dolomites. The installation merges with the forest while still creating an alienating visual impact. Visitors face a group of rocks strapped to tree trunks. These bonds are visible, the coloured straps wrap tightly around the trunk – this embodies the intense dependence between the element which “supports” and the one “which is being supported”. The bark and rock will change over the course of time. This closeness will not leave them unscathed, without visible signs, without memories. Whether it is perceived or not, adaptation modifies the intimate and external structure of participants and binds them. Being fragile is a resource.

Exhibit place Pares

Ćialdires and Pares - The springs close to the Longiaru valley are one of those hidden and isolated places where human beings can feel the forces of nature. The water element, also important in myths and legends (the Ganes always lived close to a spring or lake), creates synergies that kindle the imagination and spirit of whosoever stops in those places.
